Walks around Y Bala and Penllyn

This third updated edition offers twenty two walks exploring the beautiful unspoilt landscape and rich Welsh cultural history of Y Bala in the southern part of the Snowdonia National Park, and its adjoining area. Y Bala lies on the shores of Llyn Tegid, the largest natural lake in Wales, surrounded by hills and mountains. Despite its English origins, this small historic market town is a strong Welsh-speaking community that has helped shape cultural and religious life in Wales, and further afield in Patagonia.

Well known for its watersports, the area is also excellent walking country. The book includes a town trail and walks on hills, by rivers, through woodland and forest, offering extensive views and visiting many places of historical interest. It includes new viewpoints and hillforts now accessible on Open Access land, as well as two linear walks between Y Bala and Llanuwchllyn, which when combined make a superb 14 mile upland circuit of Llyn Tegid.
