Walks around Llangollen and the Dee Valley

Twenty five linked circular walks exploring the beautiful diverse landscape around Llangollen, an historic North Wales border town set in the stunning wooded Dee Valley surrounded by hills and mountains an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The walks take you through some of the finest scenery in Britain and provide an insight into the area’s medieval and industrial heritage. There are walks in little known wooded side valleys, along the river Dee and the Llangollen canal, over open hills and mountains, past old quarries on miners’ paths, and along impressive limestone escarpments.

They visit Iron-Age hill forts, medieval sites such as Valle Crucis Abbey and Castell Dinas Bran, as well as Thomas Telford’s famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, now a World Heritage Site. They offer magnificent views, including those of steam trains travelling along the valley on the Llangollen Railway.
